Lead Free Initiative
September 2003, Leicester
Miles-Platts are delighted to announce the gradual introduction of lead-free plating on all of their products manufactured with wire pins or terminals commencing from 1st October 2003. The entire product range is planned to be supplied fully lead-free by January 2005.
This initiative will bring Miles-Platts products into line with lead-free legislation well before the scheduled enforcement date of July 2006.
We hope that our introduction of lead-free products will assist in meeting your customers' environmental requirements and help you secure more business by being able to offer lead-free products.
Miles-Platts have chosen pure matt tin as the plating standard for all wire and terminal variations. Further technical details can be found here along with answers to frequently asked questions.
Pure matt tin plating is 100% compatible with any existing leaded soldering process already in place and the transfer to using lead-free plating will be no different to your current production methods.
Lead-free plating offers commercial and environmental advantages without any cost implications on the price of products supplied by Miles-Platts. A "Pb free" sticker applied to the carton will identify products that have been converted to lead-free plating.
