Metal detectable plastic suitable for food processing industry - replace fabricated metal parts with injection moulded parts.
Miles Platts are working with one of Europe’s leading thermoplastic engineering polymer manufacturers to bring to market a new grade of Acetal plastic that is detectable using traditional metal detection equipment.
Acetal (POM) polymer has superb inherent mechanical properties in respect of dimensional stability, strength, stiffness and low wear characteristics. This polymer is suitable for replacing metal parts that are currently fabricated.
The plastic injection process can give tremendous savings in both time and money compared to high quantity fabricated parts. Complex geometries and features can be achieved using plastic injection moulding.
This new grade of Acetal polymer is FDA approved, metal detectable down to a 3mm cube (27mm³) and is coloured blue.
Typical applications include,
- Conveyor belt components- conveyor belt links, link pins
- Food processing components- fabricated parts
- Food preparation items- scrapers, spatulas
- Turned parts- threaded components
- Moving mechanisms- linkages
Miles Platts are able to offer a full solution from initial concept through to full production including 3D design, modelling, rapid prototypes, mould tool production and moulding.
